The Community Development Center of Puembo (CDC) was inaugurated in December 2009, and it has been dedicated to achieve the well-being of the local population: workshops about agriculture, traditional celebrations, and methodologies for the personal development have been some of the activities that the CDC has organized. The Center has a blog: http://centrodedesarrollocomunitariodepuembo.blogspot.com
ChasquiNet supports the idea by advising the CDC workers in order to maintain the sustainability of their proposal. We, at ChasquiNet Foundation, are very glad for their success and we congratulate each member.
The Municipality of Quito officially granted the Environmental Manager Certificate to the ChasquiCREA Program. As a result, the initiative has the credentials to work collecting, storing temporally, fixing and giving used electronic equipment.
Nowadays, when the waste of technological tools grows at a rate of 40 milllion tones each year (according to the Report “Recicling-From E-Waste to Resources, written by the United Nation Environment Programme for the Environment, UNPE), ChasquiCREA is a sustainable option that can help to prevent more problems for the ecosystem.
The Ecuadorian community of Puembo received a workshop of project elaboration on April 25th. Members of the City Hall, MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises), micro enterprises, local leaders and members of the Community Development Center participated in the meeting.
The results of the experience were proposals to execute projects, a system to formulate future actions, and the outline of methods to materialize ideas in short term. Therefore, Puembo citizens channel their efforts by strengthening their dynamics and by being strategic in front of the opportunities that group work offers.
